CAF (Confederation of African Football) have announced a new format of qualification to the 2026 World Cup. 9 teams from CAF will now be able to automatically qualify for the World Cup in the new FIFA format which saw an increase in participants at the finals. All 54 CAF nations were divided into 9 groups. Fixtures will be played in a home and away points format with the group winners securing an automatic spot in the 2026 World Cup finals. One more team will have a chance to qualify through the Inter-confederation play-offs. CONMEBOL(South America) nations will officially start their journey to the 2026 World Cup next week during the FIFA International break with their first two rounds of fixtures for each team.
